Orion
Orion Contemporary was established in 2008 by Dagmara Budzbon and Andrés Olow Clase. It is now run by Dominic du Plooy and Andrés Olow Clase. Dominic gained a degree in printmaking and in 1996 became a member of the Print Department at Sotheby’s Bond Street, London. In 2001 he left to become manager at Hamiltons Gallery, one of the UK’s leading photography galleries. During the following five years Dominic built up an extensive knowledge of the contemporary photography market. He divides his time between the Zebra Gallery in Hampstead and Orion Contemporary. Andrés founded Clase Fine Art in 2005, and Clase Contemporary in 2007, having previously been part of the expert team at the 19th Century European Paintings Department at Sotheby's Bond Street, London. Andrés gives Orion Contemporary an international outlook benefiting from his strong ties with England, Italy and Spain as well as his native Sweden. Jonathan Pascoe Pratt is a consultant to Orion Contemporary and brings 30 years’ experience of the art market to the partnership. After 26 years at Sotheby’s, Jonathan left his position as a Senior Director to complete his PhD at the Courtauld Institute. On completion of his doctorate he was invited to be a guest curator at the Museum Langmatt, Switzerland and has been a contributing author to publications by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Art Institute of Chicago; Musée d’Orsay, Paris and Picasso Museum, Malaga.
